Shaquille Knowles, Chairperson of the Caribbean Regional Youth Council – leads the strategic youth governance and advocacy movement with one voice working towards regional representation, integration and cooperation that serves as a platform for youth development. Leading the collective voice of National Youth Councils and national youth-led organizations in the Caribbean - in his role, he represents and advocates on behalf of young people – young people who are deserving to reside in a region that’s representative of their ideals.
As Chairperson, Shaquille has had the pleasure of working alongside youth advocates, youth networks government agencies, non-government agencies, private sector and other key actors around the world. Notably, following his contributions to the development of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting Commonwealth Youth Forum – Shaquille has had the distinct pleasure of engaging with His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Right Honorable Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during a roundtable discussion where the interests of young people were promoted.
In addition, within his role he has worked on several initiatives alongside agencies with a shared common objectives. Development agencies that includes: the Caribbean Development Bank, United Nations and its agencies, CARICOM, Commonwealth Secretariat, USAID, University of West Indies Youth Development Programme, Government of the United Kingdom, Government of Belize and others.
Shaquille has a history with Rotary International – serving as a President of his former clubs, Interact Club of St. Paul’s Methodist College and Rotaract Club of the University of The Bahamas formerly known as the Rotaract Club of the College of The Bahamas. To date, Shaquille Knowles continues to live by Rotary International’s motto “Service Above Self” and when confronted with difficult decisions – he recites the “4 Way Test”.
